What does it mean to be young at a time of suppression, rebellion and fear of death? What should young persons strive for at a time of uncertainty and anxiety? The spread of pandemic adds an additional layer of darkness to a city that has already suffered from continuous disturbances. The economic downfall as a result of the pandemic only further aggravates the trauma.
Restless and brave in the pursuit of their dreams, young people are more daring than others in dealing with a difficult time. The festival investigates the meaning of being young and the wishes of the young people, in Hong Kong, and elsewhere at this troublesome time. Along the Edge Arts Festival is an educational programme presented by the M.A. in Cultural management Programme of the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Through the online presentation of programmes in visual arts, performing arts, education and other activities, the festival investigates the meaning of being young at this particular time by young people from Hong Kong and from the Mainland China.
